BolehVPN Review

BolehVPN is a VPN service that operates out of Seychelles. It was established in 2007 and had been one of the few Asian VPN companies that provide quality and reliable privacy and protection to users. The purpose behind its creation was to allow people to use the internet freely and securely, and BolehVPN has made a name for itself by helping people access the internet in such fashion.

Boleh offers 5 different pricing plans to its users. They vary according to the length of your subscription. There is a 7 day trial package, a monthly package, a quarterly package, a semi-annual package, and an annual package. They are priced at $3.75, $9.99, $16.99, $44.99, and $79.99. The discounts offered on longer subscriptions are attractive, but the monthly package is a little expensive. There is also a 1 day free trial, and payments can be made using credit cards, PayPal, or anonymously using Bitcoin.

Security and Encryption

Boleh uses good encryption protocols to provide secure connections to users. It uses AES 256-bit encryption and RSA-2048 handshake protocol. Also, it offers “xCloak” servers to scramble traffic so as to make it impossible for the ISP to know that you are using a VPN. OpenVPN and L2TP are offered to users. Moreover, it offers P2P connections and proxy servers to users as well.
As mentioned earlier, BolehVPN operates primarily out of Seychelles, with offices in Malaysia and Hong Kong as well. All in all, it is outside the jurisdiction of the five eyes and not subject to any harsh data retention laws. This freedom is exercised to its fullest by BolehVPN as it does not record any activity logs or determine usage by users.

Server Locations

BolehVPN does not have a large global presence as it offers servers in just 13 locations of the world. These locations, though, are well spread across the globe to allow people to connect anywhere. The locations covered by BolehVPN are USA, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, Luxembourg, Italy, Japan, Sweden, and Switzerland.

BolehVPN offers VPN clients for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. It has a custom made VPN service for the Android app it provides. Although there is not dedicated iOS app, support is provided using OpenVPN Connect, and setting up the service on iPhones or other iOS devices is quite simple. Setup guides for DD-WRT routers are available as well.

BolehVPN showed varying results for different servers. The speeds were generally good, with some servers showing poor performance. On the whole, the speeds were good and the VPN Service fared good in case of DNS Leak and IPv6 leak tests as well.

Customer support

Customer support is an integral part of any business, even more so for one like a VPN where customers have a lot of queries. BolehVPN allows customers to seek help from their founders as well, which is a promising notion. The requests can be made using token system or email, but there is no online chat support offered by BolehVPN as of now.

As mentioned earlier, BolehVPN offers a free one day trial of its service. Signing up for this one day trial is a bit cumbersome, but it gives one a feel of their service to make a better decision about their service. It is certainly an attractive VPN for Tor users, for its offers Tor over VPN for added encryption and security. It is also known to host online games like Counter Strike, and the BolehGEO servers are useful when it comes to streaming geo-restricted services.

Overall, BolehVPN is a service that is good when it comes to encryption and security for the users. It has been around for almost a decade, so it has used its experience to good effect. There are a few areas to improve upon, like adding an online chat support or perhaps reducing the pricing of their plans, but apart from that, BolehVPN offers a satisfying experience to users.
